Wenche has been inspired by many different teachers and styles through the years and combined her learning into her own unique teaching style accessible for all.

Some of the physical yoga sessions led by Wenche and Eva will be pre-recorded as well as we will ask you to pre-record some of your teachings and send to us for evaluation. We are keeping pre-recorded work/sessions to a minimum as I believe face to face is extremely important for optimal learning and development.

The first couple of months of your training will have main focus on philosophy/ancient teachings and scriptures as well as your posture packs to complete and deliver for marking. We also start the process of understanding the difference between relaxation and meditation preparing you for creating your own script to be delivered.

As we go through the syllabus you will begin to develop a much deeper understanding in teaching yoga.

Yoga Life TT goes in depth in teaching you to create your own lessons, giving room for a variety of styles to develop. It is important for us that we help you to find the yoga teacher inside of you, so you can teach from a heartfelt space of knowledge and care for your future students. This will help you in developing your ’style’ and adding your own ‘flavour’ to your teaching .

The course is based on pre-study, live streamed meetings on course dates, pre-recorded deliveries, 121 monthly follow up/support meetings, pre-recorded yoga sessions practice from teachers and monthly homework study for submission and marking.

How will I be assessed?

A variety of methods will be used including practical assents, continues observation in your development, deliveries of asanas, relaxation, pranayama and meditation.

You will be completing worksheets and homework for marking as well as a portfolio of evidence of home practice and class attendance. There will also be a test on anatomy and physiology and a final exam on teaching a full 90min class of your choice of style and team within guidelines.

What are the entry requirements and how do I apply?

We suggest that you have at least two years of regular yoga practice/experience.

You need to be dedicated and passionate having a deep desire to learn more of this ancient medicine form that yoga really is.

We often get asked how ‘good’ do I need to be in yoga to become a yoga teacher? Our belief is that yoga is not about how deep your back bend is, or how open your hips are or how long can I stand on your head. Yoga is so much more then the pose. Yoga is a journey learning more about the teachings physically, mentally and emotionally.

Nevertheless the course involves physical movement so therefor a degree of physical fitness is necessary. Still we have a long experience of working with all levels of health and fitness. We find that people that have found yoga through different kinds of rehabilitation during their healing journey. From substance abuse, cancer, ME, chronic fatigue, operations of different kinds, trauma and other emotional issues are often inspired to share their recovery journey through yoga. We support this with deep passion and upmost respect as we believe there is a yoga practice for everyone.

If you feel this YTT is the course for you, simply send us an email showing your interest and a little bit about yourself, your yoga experience and why you want to learn more of what yoga is. Information pack will be sent to you once we receive your email.

We will have a warm conversation where questions are asked to share a little of your life journey so far, your Yoga journey and reasoning for wanting to do this course and becoming a Yoga teacher. We will go through the course set up, the homework/home study, the focus on the philosophy/ancient texts (as this has also a big part of the course) etc.

This meeting is for you to make sure you have all your questions answered and we get to know each other, after all we are gong to be sharing an amazing journey together.

TESTIMONIALS

My Online Journey

After booking my yoga training with Yoga Studios last year, I was very concerned that it would not happen as the COVID pandemic evolved. I was delighted to find out it would go ahead, although initially a little apprehensive that it would be on Zoom. As the course progressed, working on Zoom actually worked really well. In fact, as we approached the first time we had to teach to the group, we had to do it through Zoom and I felt this gave us an advantage over other teachers who were having to work this all out themselves for the first time. We had the support of our teachers and other students to test this new way of teaching within a supportive and caring group.

Other areas of concern in an online teaching environment were being taught how to adjust, but Wenche and Eva have addressed this by giving this area of teaching careful attention with close up demos explaining how to adjust (when we are able to) but also how to verbally adjust our classes so we are equipped with the skills to help our future classes, whether online or in a studio where we are unable to touch students.

I am only part way through the course but I have learnt so much and the additional monthly 1-1 Zoom calls have also been a great support to me.

I think the way Yoga Life have adapted to these unusual circumstances has been thoughtfully managed to ensure we get the most from our training and don’t miss out by not being in the studio. We continue to feel we are part of a close group with consistent support and always feeling like we can approach the teachers throughout the month in-between training sessions.

What an experience it has been, growing physically, spiritually and mentally over the past 8 months with an inspirational group of women around me to support me, hold me when needed and help me to find the really hard lessons within myself that I needed to learn. I don’t think I can fully put into words how much this experience has changed me. I feel more connected with who I really am deep down inside than ever before, and I genuinely believe that the state of contentment I have discovered is down to the challenges and obstacles that I have faced and overcome on this journey.

Oh boy, was it harder than I ever expected it to be! I knew I was taking a blind leap of faith, and I knew that this was the path I needed to be on, but I had no idea how much baggage I was carting around with me that needed to be shifted and burnt through, nor how much it would hurt to unpick it all. Feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness that I hadn’t felt in years came flooding back. I discovered that one of my defence mechanisms is building in a Get out of Jail Free card, overloading myself with other ‘important’ things that have to take priority over the choices I have made – the choice to commit to my practice, to become closer with my true self – so that then when the hard work gets too much, I can pull the trigger and explain away the avoidance as me simply not having the time to do the work. I am so good at giving my energy away to others, as a means of excusing my own bad behaviour and avoiding the work that really needs to be done (the self-care, humility, sitting in the stillness… all of this and more), that I don’t even notice when I’m doing it!

I thought yoga had healed me and taken me to a point of being ready to share it’s magic with others; what I didn’t realise is that I was only at the very beginning of my healing journey and that this is a path that I have chosen to walk down and will be walking down for the rest of my life, perhaps holding a hand out to help others behind me find their way forwards and keep their footing, but also looking ahead to others holding lights blazing ahead of me and helping me to find my way too. There is such beauty to be found in this place of humbleness and of needing support – the strength is in choosing to let go and dive in head first, not in fighting to hold back the tides that will flow no matter what. Writing these words brings tears to my eyes, because I know that this lesson is the big one that I have been running away from, refusing to listen to for years. It is my dharma and is the thing I will take away most from this experience.

This journey has taught me so much more than how to facilitate safe yoga practice for others (I am hugely grateful that it has provided me with this skill, and I will relish the opportunity to use it – I am definitely not ungrateful for this, or unaware of the value of this skill in itself); I have learnt how to recognise my trigger points, how to work through them safely and with love, how to let go and how to recognise where the real lessons lie and what to do with them when I find them. For the first time in over 5 years, I feel genuine hope, determination and excitement for the life I have ahead of me. I know that the years I am yet to live will be the most fruitful, joyous and exciting of my life so far and that I am only just beginning to live the life and walk the path that I am meant to be on. I have found a calling, a passion, that I know will never die.

So, thank you to Wenche and Eva, for bringing me back to life. For reconnecting me with my true self and igniting a fire of passion and love inside me that will never be extinguished. If I wasn’t sure of it before, I know now for sure that Karma is real, because this experience has been a light-filled reward for all the pain and sorrows I have been through leading up to this point. I know that more will come, and I am ready for them, because I can see that you only get to experience huge highs and joys and wonders after journeying through the low, dark places. Without the sun, the moon could not shine as brightly and beautifully in contrast. This poem by Erin Hansen perfectly sums it up:

And off I go! x

Vicky Cullum

(November 2019)

I decided to take the plunge and enrol on the YTT course after a brief conversation with the teachers Eva and Wenche, not really fully aware of how much my life would change in the forthcoming months.

I have made some beautiful new friendships that have given me strength, courage and love along the way. At low points of self doubt, the hope and strength of the group pulled me through which stopped me from giving up. I learnt how to let go of judgement of both myself and others thus opening my eyes to live from the heart. For this I am eternally grateful. These friends have now become my family and I can’t imagine my life without them.

My two patient, loving and beautiful teachers have taught me tolerance, acceptance of what is and have helped create fluidity within my life and yoga practise. They nurtured and encouraged my strengths at the same time as supporting my weaknesses which demonstrated how to love myself from a pure and kind place. They shone a light of hope when my will and ego wanted to give up. Thank goodness I didn’t give up! . All I can say is WOW what an amazing journey !!

For anyone reading this with any doubt in their minds as to whether YTT is for them, I would say jump on board, hold on tight, buckle yourself in and be prepared to be taken to the stars and back!!! :))))))

With love, light and serenity.
