Shaiva Tantra inspired Village Ha-tha Yoga with Lynne Matthews
Tuesday 6.00pm – 7.00pm
I first began enjoying Yoga over 20 years ago. It was suggested that I try it as a way of stretching out my damaged back. I had been on the waiting list for major back surgery, and even after just a few sessions, I found that my body had already started to feel better, free-er, less tight.
I was so inspired, I just had to do my training.
I first qualified in January 2004 in Sivananda Yoga. Very soon after that I met who was to be my next teacher, David Charles Manners. (Author of In the Shadow of Crows, and Limitless Sky).
David teaches a very little known Tradition from the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. The tradition is called Shaiva Tantra Yoga- a very old, spoken Tradition, of non religious practical application that encourages the student to free both body and mind from inner contraction through physical practice and meditation. This improves the capacity to love and live more freely, without restriction. The student is encouraged to take complete responsibility for finding their own true nature, enabling them to live a life of happiness, of balance, being much more mindful of their choices in life. A journey that takes many years.
David has been my mentor and dear friend for over 15 years now. The wisdom that he has taught me through TheTtradition has encouraged me to be the happiest and most balanced in my life to date…and no back surgery!
Having practiced Cranio Sacral Therapy as well as Yoga, and teaching Reiki for many years, I decided that Thai Yoga Massage too would compliment my skill set. So, I began studying, and qualified in my first diploma of Thai Yoga Massage in 2006.
The Thai Massage stretches and adjustments originate in the North of India, and are used in The Tradition to prepare the new Yoga practitioners for their Yoga training. I use my years of knowledge and experience of body work in my classes and one to one sessions.
In my new Tuesday 6pm class, I will be teaching Village Ha-tha, influenced by The Shaiva Tantra Tradition. Your sessions will taught in a way to bring about energetically and physically balance, with much emphasis on the breath. Mantra and meditation techniques are also taught.
Classes cost £40 for a 5 week block, or £10 per session to drop in.
